Arcade Fire's Third Album

Their third release (August 2, 2010) came about 6 months after I had grown tired of constantly listening t0 their first two albums. This is my favorite track off of 'The Suburbs'.

New Sufjan Stevens

About a week ago Sufjan came out with an album that brought me back into his avid fan corner. I had strayed away due to releases like the BQE, an all instrumental artistic exploration of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. His newest album entitled 'All Delighted People EP' is in no way your standard folk release but it delivers 8 more tracks of the daring, ambient folk that he had gotten away from in the past 5 years. The opener is an 11 minute opus and emotional rollercoaster that I have been trying to wrap my mind around all day. This beautiful track is a bit more digestible. Preferably listened to with noise blocking headphones.

Mount Kimbie - Mayor

In terms of updating the Nugz this summer, I've been lazy as shit. Work + partying = getting nothing done. Since June i've been meaning to post about this production duo from the UK called Mount Kimbie. Labeled as "Post-Dubstep", Mount Kimbie creates music quite opposite then the heavy dub-step you would stereotypically think of. Featuring chopped up vocal samples, extensive percussion, and guitar (something you don't hear much of in contemporary electronic/bass), these guys have an ear for music.

I'm a big fan of Mount Kimbie, and have listened to their latest album, Crooks & Lovers a shitload of times. "Mayor", one of the last tracks on their most recent release/Nug of the Week has become on of my favorites. Check it out, let me know what you think.

Heltah Skeltah - Hold Your Head Up

If I had to pick one artist that will always remind me of this past summer, I'd have to say Sean Price. I don't know how I didn't listen to this dude earlier because he absolutely kills it. Heltah Skeltah's (Sean P & Rock) "Hold Your Head Up" off of the 1998 album Magnum Force Proper is one of those kick back songs, and has become one of my favorites of this summer. Props to the Mantis for turning me on to this one. Download it below

7L and Esoteric

I've recently been relapsing back into my late 90's underground rap phase. Thought I'd share one of my favorite tracks from back in the day. These guys are from Boston and Esoteric is still putting out albums.
